CEDR and the Clatsop Community College Small Business Development Center will be hosting (SBA) Small Business Administration District Director Marty Golden and key resource partners in a series of meetings on Wednesday, May 17, at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Columbia Hall, Room 219.
Resource partners include SBA Business Oregon, SBDC (CAT) Capital Access Team Statewide Lead Advisor Noah Brockman, Walt Postlewait, EVP of Craft3 and manager of the CCC SBDC Small Business Management Program, and the Government Contract Assistance Program (GCAP), highlighting how to do business with the federal government and how to get certified.
The first meeting will be a Lenders Roundtable beginning at 2 p.m. Local lending partners and other interested parties are invited to attend this discussion. The focus will be a discussion and review of lending programs available, and how CEDR/CCC SBDC can strengthen relationships between the lending community and the clients served. Note that SBDC advising for businesses is always free and confidential.
At 5:30 p.m., there will be a networking reception at Columbia 219 with all the resource partners and the business community. The event is free and refreshments and appetizers will be provided. There will also be short presentation by some of the resource partners. All are invited to attend this event! • Martin D. Golden is district director for the Portland district of the U.S. Small Business Administration. As district director, he is responsible for the delivery of all SBA programs and services in 30 of 36 counties in Oregon and four counties in Southwest Washington. Before arriving in Portland in 2016, Mr. Golden spent three years as the district director for the Columbus, Ohio district. Before joining SBA, Mr. Golden was a banker for 20 years, and served in senior positions with leading financial institutions including GE Capital, Wells Fargo, and the Toronto-Dominion Bank.
• Noah Brockman comes from the SBDC CAT team and leads the Oregon statewide Small Business Development Center’s Network Capital Access Team, which provides strategic business advising to SBDC clients statewide on access to capital, business planning and financial analysis. He has worked with the PCC SBDC since 2008, where he facilitates Profit Mastery and the Small Business Management II program, and participates as one of OSBDCN’s strategic Grow Oregon Business Advisors
• Walt Postlewait is executive vice president and chief lending officer for Craft3. Postlewait received his bachelor’s of science in political science from the University of Oregon, and completed their Journalism School’s requirements for a degree in public relations. Postlewait is also a graduate of the Northwest Intermediate Banking School.
• Jim Newton has a background in small business lending, export finance, and risk management. Mr. Newton joined the Office of International Trade at SBA in January of 2015. He currently serves as an international trade finance specialist.
