Safety tip from the Washington Retail Association:

OLYMPIA — Rather than thinking or worrying about a surprise L&I inspection of your business, it might worth removing the uncertainty.

Any business owner can request an L&I consultation to learn what safety improvements might be required by law. It’s free and no fines are levied if infractions are discovered. However, a business will be expected to make needed repairs and a follow up visit may be required.

Some of our members have told Safety Specialist Rick Means that the consultations they requested turned out to be a great opportunity to learn what changes were necessary for their business to be in full compliance with the law.

A consultation will show what inspectors are looking for. Though the answers are valuable to know, they will be free to learn. It’s important to include, however, that a business owner in need of making improvements will be expected to do so.

Rick is happy to take your call to talk more about this or make referrals before you request a consultation. Reach him at 360-943-9198, Ext. 18 or rick.means@retailassociationservices.com.
