ASTORIA — Easom Property Management, Inc. and Windermere Pacific Land Company said their holiday drive to provide warm coats, blankets, scarves, hats and gloves for the needy was the most successful ever.
This is the fourth year that Windermere Pacific Land Company in conjunction with Easom Property Management have partnered with the Wishing Tree & Food Basket Program to help provide warmth and holiday cheer to Clatsop County families in need during the holiday season.
The drive ended on Dec. 17 so a host of volunteers could organize and prepare for the distribution of all donations received.
“After we delivered all that we had collected on the 17th we kept our donation barrel out in case anyone missed the deadline,” said company Vice President LJ Gunderson. “Yesterday a woman came into the office and dropped two huge bags into the barrel and slipped out before anyone could even thank her. We contacted Myrle Bruner of the Food Basket & Wishing Tree program to let her know we had just received a large donation. We were amazed to open the bags and find all brand new coats and blankets. We don’t know who this lady was but wanted to thank her for her generous donation,” Gunderson said.
The Wishing Tree and Food Basket Program is a non-profit organization that relies on hard-working volunteers and donations from the community. This long-running program has helped countless families for over 35 years, not only providing them with food, but also personalized gifts for kids, warm clothing items, and a reason to smile. Hundreds of individuals and families from our community have asked and will receive assistance this season.
