Sports-themed restaurant opens in Seaside

Jason Edwards offers “Northwest comfort food” and a full bar at The Waterboy Grill in Seaside.

SEASIDE — A new Gilbert District restaurant features a full bar, comfort food and four flat-screen TVs for fans who want catch the game and enjoy a fresh-squeezed blackberry margarita.

The Waterboy Grill opened Oct. 16 at 20 N. Holladay with owner Jason Edwards and “a couple of talented chefs.”

Edwards said he’ll keep the staffing small to start with and expand as needed. He used his own money and some borrowed to finance the venture.

The menu will feature “Northwest comfort food,” he said. That includes burgers, sandwiches, seafood, wraps and Mexican with an emphasis on local produce and seafood.

The bar will feature a full menu including fresh-squeezed cocktails.

“It’s a good place to eat some fish tacos, some fresh crab and hang out,” Edwards said.

Look for the local teams on the flat screens. The Ducks, the Beavers, the ‘Blazers and Timbers as well as Washington teams will get screen time, Edwards said.

He’s been in the restaurant business for 20 years. He previously managed the Wayfarer in Cannon Beach and owned restaurants in Ashland and Costa Rica before opening The Waterboy Grill.

The restaurant will be open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information call 503-739-7070.
