Sundial Travel and Cruise Center in Astoria welcomed two new agents, adding new specialists in adults with developmental disabilities and international travel.

Anne Merila’s main focus will be special vacations for adults with developmental disabilities. The travel industry is a new career for her. She was human resources director for Coast Rehab for five years before joining the Sundial team.

She started with the company the week of November 17.

Kathy Arndt started with Sundial in early December. She has a Certified Travel Counselor degree and has been an agent since 1982.

She will be the company’s international agent.

Arndt lived in Switzerland for five years, working for an import-export business and lived in Japan as an American Field Service student from Astoria High School in the 1970s. She has a brother who visits in France, and she has toured other destinations including Bali, Indonesia, Canada and Mexico.

She’s also well traveled in the U.S. as well.

“I’ve been in just about every state,” she said.
