CANNON BEACH — Affordable price points, a popular menu and nature’s sunny disposition combined to give Tom’s Fish and Chips a boost since opening Aug. 4.
The nice weather has been bringing ‘em in,” General Manager Frank Eckstein said.
The nautical themed restaurant, at 240 N. Hemlock, employs 20 and has seating for 38 inside and 15 or so outside, said co-owner Tom Krueger.
Diners have enjoyed the porch tables, Eckstein added. They can have their meal and watch the world go by, he said.
Krueger said he and co-owner Tom Drumheller, chief executive officer of Escape Lodging, wanted to offer an affordable restaurant for Cannon Beach visitors and locals as well.
“We’ve worked hard to keep price points affordable,” he said.
A two-piece fish and chips runs $7.95; prawns and chips costs $9.95. A cheeseburger is $3.95 and an order of fries is $1.95.
The menu has 12 items, he said. It’s a limited menu, but it’s high-quality food.
Diners can enjoy beer or wine with their meal. Tom’s also can fill growlers.
Guests at a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 17 sampled the fare and welcomed the restaurant into the community.
Kyle Genin, manager of the Driftwood Restaurant & Lounge in Cannon Beach, said, “It adds to everything Cannon Beach has to offer.”
It gives visitors another option when other restaurants are packed, he added. It happens during the summer.
“The winter, that’s another story.”
