Pacific Power scholarship support

Alisa Dunlap of Pacific Power presents grant to Jane McGeehan of the Seaside AAUW Scholarship Foundation.

SEASIDE — The Seaside AAUW (American Association of University Women) Scholarship Foundation on June 7 announced receiving a $2,000 grant from the Pacific Power Foundation. It will help fund college scholarships for local young women who are either the first in their family to attend college or are returning to college after a five-year absence.

The Pacific Power Foundation is one of the largest utility-endowed foundations in the U.S. The foundation was created in 1988 by PacifiCorp, an electric utility serving 1.8 million customers in six Western states.

Jane McGeehan, chair of the Seaside AAUW Scholarship Foundation, expressed thanks for the grant to Alisa Dunlap, Pacific Power regional business manager. The AAUW Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $20,000 in local scholarships since its formation in 1990. The scholarships are dependent upon the generosity of individuals and organizations in our North Coast communities. Donations are welcome and can be sent to P.O. Box 693, Seaside, OR 97138.
